 Assume that a daily incremental backup done Monday through 

 Thursday will backup all the data that was modified since the

 last full backup.  In such a case, the media requirements

 will grow toward the end of the week.

 The above phenomenon may be referred to 

 as a compound incremental backup.

 If the incremental backup picks up only the files

 modified since the last backup, daily backups would

 require an approximately equal number of backup media,
