Assume that a full backup is performed
once a week on Friday (after 5 p.m. of course).
     It requires several volumes ...

Assume that a daily incremental backup done Monday through
Thursday will backup all the data that was modified since the
last full backup. In such a case, the media requirements
will grow toward the end of the week.

The above phenomenon may be referred to
 as a compound incremental backup.
If the incremental backup picks up only the files
modified since the last backup, daily backups would
require an approximately equal number of backup media,
and the situation would be as shown on the next screen.

The above phenomenon may be referred to as a
 straight incremental backup.
